Josephine Bancheri is an Account Executive at Obero. Josephine shares how joining Obero a year ago was a smart career move that’s been personally and professionally satisfying.
Why did you choose to join?
Obero’s targets the software industry; a huge percentage of our clients are in the technology space. I wanted to get into technology sales. It was, and continues to be, a booming industry and I wanted to be part of it.
What does a day-in-the life of an Account Executive at Obero look like?
My role is to close the deals. I mainly work with West coast customers, so a key part of my day is adjusting to the time difference! On a daily basis, I get to talk to industry-leading SaaS businesses that are growing and innovating every day.
What’s it like working here as a woman in tech sales?
Obero is growing so quickly and one of the many benefits of this is that there are definitely more women around the office. There aren’t very many women in tech sales across the industry, but Obero is working on changing that.
What’s the one thing someone who works here is going to find professionally satisfying?
It’s challenging because it’s always changing. You are always learning more about tech, accounting, finance. Everyone has their goals but there isn’t a sense of competition, you are part of a team. This is the kind of environment where the executive leadership walks around and they are very approachable.
What’s it like working for a company that’s scaling rapidly?
It’s really exciting to see how quickly we are becoming known in the sales performance management tech space. I just started a year ago. At the time I knew everyone in the office. Right now we have new people starting every week. Being part of a company that is growing allows for faster career development. You have to work hard to be promoted but you can get where you want to faster because of the visibility and the chance to live up to your potential to get a promotion.
That’s something you’ve experienced directly. Can you tell us about your professional growth here?
I was in a BDR role when I started in December 2016 and was promoted to Senior BDR in July 2017 and then again to Account Executive in September 2017. On average, it takes 12-18 months for a BDR to be promoted based on performance. There is no set timeline to promotion here, so if you work hard, you will be rewarded.
From BDR to Account Executive in 12 months. What’s next for you?
I’m working towards Senior Account Executive and after that, I want to grow into the Field Sales role. The direction the company is going and the growth we are experiencing, I’m confident there will be more opportunities as I build a career here.
